The Shawn Craver Trio is Shawn Craver on fiddle, Josh Luper on guitar, and Luke Craver on clawhammer banjo. The band features deft arrangements of traditional fiddle tunes and humorous and melancholy ballads. When Luke Craver was 7 years old he won the Mid Atlantic Banjo Championship in Cumberland, Maryland playing a style of pre-bluegrass banjo called clawhammer. When he moved from the Appalachian Mountains to Kansas back in 2006, he played shows with his dad, but took a break from playing in public. 15 years later, Luke is back at it playing his first show with the Shawn Craver Trio in late 2022. Josh Luper burst onto the Wichita, Kansas music scene in 2009 as a guitarist playing hundreds of shows with one of Wichita's most prolific string bands of the time, Raging Sea. Though coming from a "Winfield" family, Josh also developed a taste for progressive rock provides an eclectic backdrop for the Shawn Craver Trio. Ever experimenting with arranging fiddle music, Josh's adventurous guitar playing pulls out the subtle and universal nuances of traditional music. Shawn Craver has shared the same stages as Chris Thile, Altan, Jeff Pehrson (Furthur/Bob Weir), Tim O'Brien, and more. A recent main stage performer at the Kansas State Fiddling Championships, Shawn is known for rare fiddle tunes, ballads, and a quirky stage presence. His guitar work can be found on Dick Kimmel's 2000 Copper Creek release "Fishing Creek Blues" and Bluegrass Unlimited magazine called his 1999 diy release "Over the Blue Ridge" "A treasure trove..."
